This jewelry is inspired by a long necklace of colorful stones and gold
beads from the Achaemenid Persian period. The necklace, belonging to a
high ranking person, was found in a sarcophagus in Susa, one of the
capitals of the Empire. The craftsmen of this period often combined
dozens of different stones punctuated by granulated gold beads to
produce contrasts in colors, materials, transparency and opacity to
create sumptuous and polychromatic jewelry.
